The President of the Georgia Red Cross Society, Natia Loladze visited Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region, where she met with the representatives of the GRCS Oni and Ambrolauri branches and was updated about the current situation in the region.
As a result of the flood of July 29, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti has been severely damaged. In particular, several villages in Oni municipality were cut off from the outside world, infrastructure, agricultural lands and fruit trees were damaged. In order to meet the basic needs of the population in the region, the Georgia Red Cross Society provides food and hygiene parcels to 658 affected families in Oni. In total, in Oni, Kutaisi, Lanchkhuti and Lagodekhi regions humanitarian assistance will be provided to 3,170 people who have been affected critically. Currently, about 40 Red Cross volunteers are mobilized to help the local population.
The Georgia Red Cross Society is providing humanitarian assistance to the affected population with the support of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the European Union.
